How to Recover Deleted File from WinSCP

Hello, I accidentally deleted some files from my server root user in WinSCP. Under the preference options, there is a checkbox option that says: Moving files to the recycling bin. But I cannot find the recycling bin, and I need these files back. Where can I find these files?

In fact, WinSCP has a remote recycle bin, but it is disabled by default. That is probably why you can't find it. It is said that some servers may contain a recycle bin or another similar feature that helps your file recovery. But unluckily, that is not very common. That is why you'd better find local file recovery software that enables you to recover files directly on the machine that runs this server.

EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard may be your go-to solution. This tool can be utilized on your PC to recover deleted file from WinSCP like this:

Download for Win Recovery Rate 99.7%
Download for Mac Trustpilot Rating 4.8

Step 1. Download and start scanning: You can directly click the download button or visit the official page of EaseUS to access the EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard. Then, launch this data recovery tool and select where your files are stored. Click "Scan" to proceed.

Step 2. View the scanning result and preview files: When the scanning ends, you will see all files found presented on your panel. You can locate your target file by filtering its format or file name. To preview and better ensure they are files you want to recover, double-click them.

Step 3. Recover and save files: Now, check the files you want to recover and click "Recover" to confirm. Remember to save them to a different location to avoid data overwriting.

If you have just deleted your files from WinSCP, you may try Restoring deleted files from the Recycle bin

  • Just open your Recycle Bin
  • Check and select the files you want to recover; if they are there
  • Right-click on the files
  • Choose "Restore" from the menu

Use EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard to recover deleted or lost files easily and quickly.
